Scarecrows Surface For Contest On Central Avenue

The Los Alamos Arts Council is again working with Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District to bring the Annual Scarecrow Contest to downtown Los Alamos. Community members are invited to vote for the ‘Fan Favorite’ through Oct. 26 at CB FOX Department Store, Fuller Lodge Art Center or the Los Alamos Visitors Center. ALBUQUERQUE Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico will stage, in a public setting, a reconstruction of Talls’ monumental 40-part Renaissance motet, Spem in Alium, written in 1570 for eight choirs of five voices each.
 
Arguably the greatest work of Renaissance choral music by an English composer, Spem in Alium was Tallis’ crowning achievement.
 
This project is supported by a grant from New Mexico Arts.
