NM-AZ Book Awards Finalists Announced

The Finalists for the 2018 NM & AZ Book Awards were announced at the recent New Mexico Book Co-op lunch meeting.
 
Certificates were handed out to those finalists present and they will be mailed to all the others over the next few days.

The winners in this year’s awards program will be announced at a banquet Nov. 16, at the Tanoan Country Club in Albuquerque, which always sells out.

The UCLA Sage Concert Series presents a double header for its fall concert. Pianist Yelena Mealy and the Quemazon Brass Quartet will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at the Unitarian Church at 738 N. Sage St. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

Mealy was born in Kazan, a large Russian city on the Volga River. There she started her musical instruction at age six, attending one of the many Russian Music Schools. LALT: Auditions For ‘Murder At The Lone Elm’ Oct. 4, 6

LALT News:

Los Alamos Little Theatre announces audition dates for “Murder at the Lone Elm,” an interactive murder mystery written and directed by local playwright Miles Ledoux.

Auditions are 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, and 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. in the Performing Arts Center at 1670 Nectar St. Persons auditioning will be asked to read excerpts from the script and engage in some impromptu dialogue to mimic engagement with an audience trying to determine murderer from among a cast of suspects.

The play will be performed Jan. 4-19 with a special New Year’s Eve performance Dec. 31.
