Scenes From Art Dedication At Aquatic Center

County staff, members of the Art in Public Places (APP) Board and members of the community turned out for the dedication ceremoney for the artwork ‘Denizens of the Deep’ Thursday at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center. The artwork, created by local artist Richard Swenson, features sea creatures forged out of discarded machinery parts. Swenson donated the pieces to the aquatic center. A whole lot of Los Alamosians have seen the Red Elvises and I imagine that many of them will be at the Pond Friday. Los Alamos County Community Services Director Brian Brogan announced today that the Council has asked County staff for a special recognition honoring long-time concert producer Russ Gordon for his thousands of hours and 28 years of service dedicated to bringing great musical acts to Los Alamos.

Community Invited To Bingo Night Wednesday At IHM

The community is invited to attend Bingo Night, 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall. Packets are $20 each and 16 games will be played. The event is a fundraiser for the parish youth group.

Prizes will be gift baskets with a minimum value of $20. Frito pies, chili dogs, candy and popcorn will be available for purchase.

“This will be a great night out for all ages,” IHM Youth Minister Kendra Wilhelm said. “If it is successful, we will have more Bingo Nights in the future.”
