Local Trumpet Recital By Miriam Wallstrom Sunday
MUSIC News:
Miriam Wallstrom, a high school junior, will present her first trumpet recital at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12 at Fuller Lodge. Playing pieces on both a b flat trumpet and a piccolo trumpet, Wallstrom will perform works by Haydn, Albinoni, Sasche and a Dixieland jazz piece.
Jan McDonald is her music teacher and will accompany her on trumpet for several of her recital pieces. Cindy Little, well-known piano player, also will accompany her on the piano, and her friend Jenny Paige will play duets with her on the euphonium.

“Fresh Out,” a 12-minute comedy by Los Alamos playwright Robert F. Benjamin will be performed at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 10 at the White Rock Senior Center Event Hall and 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The performances are free.
Actresses Pat Beck and Kate Ramsey make up the cast.
This will be Benjamin’s third comedy at the senior centers, following the 2016 performances of Too Soon and Swerving.

Los Alamos Resident Carrie Classon was working and living in Lagos, Nigeria when her life, as she knew it, screeched to a halt. Her marriage ended along with her job and company-owned housing.
In this situation, some might choose to panic and run back to the U.S. but Classon elected to take another route. She continued to live in Lagos for three-and-a-half years, deciding this was a “good opportunity to stay and figure out what had happened in my life.”
