Author Elizabeth J. Church Speaks At Library Thursday

Elizabeth J. Church, who spent her early years in Los Alamos and has now returned here to live, has written a novel called The Atomic Weight of Love. She will talk about the book, which is set in Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project and following decades, at the Library’s monthly Authors Speak program at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23.
Church’s book was released May 3, and she has been on a whirlwind book tour ever since. She spoke most recently at the iconic bookstores Powell’s (in Portland) and The Tattered Cover in Denver.

Mesa Public Library will show the music documentary Muscle Shoals at 6 p.m. Monday, June 20 in the Upstairs Meeting Rooms. The film is rated PG.

When it comes to summer reading, we never really grow up, do we? We give ourselves permission to just relax and enjoy.
The kids who come to the library during the summer get to do crafts, watch movies and participate in challenges- well, we want to do that too! So the library staff has set up some fun programs for grown-ups in conjunction with the summer reading season. All are free.

LALT Holds Annual Meeting June 26
LALT News:
Los Alamos Little Theatre invites all interested persons to attend its annual membership meeting Sunday, June 26.
A free lunch will be provided starting at 1 pm and the business portion of the meeting will begin at 2 pm. At the meeting, LALT members can renew their membership or new members can join by paying their $1 annual dues. The business portion of the meeting will include a look back at activities from the past year and a look forward at the 2016-17 season.
Attendees also will elect seven persons to serve with three holdover members to form the LALT Board
