ALBUQUERQUE  At 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, New York-based artist David Antonio Cruz will give a talk about his artwork in the exhibition Staging the Self / Ponerse En Imagen, currently on display at the National Hispanic Cultural Center and organized by the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.
 
Cruz’s multidisciplinary work fuses painting, video, and performance to explore the invisibility and silencing of brown and black queer bodies throughout history and within communities.

This Abert’s squirrel was spotted today bonding with a stuffed Santa squirrel on the branch of a tree in the front yard of a home on Club Road in Los Alamos. The Abert’s squirrel also is known as the tassel-eared squirrel and can be found in the mountainous areas of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and parts of Wyoming and north central Mexico. Excavation Work Begins On County’s West Plaza

COUNTY News:

Residents and downtown businesses will see some excavation work occurring in the Los Alamos County Municipal Building’s west plaza over the next few weeks at 1000 Central Ave.

This  work will be conducted by artist Eric Thelander and his contractor(s) to prepare the area for installation of the base of “Solar Tree” – an 18-ft. tall sculpture being installed in the plaza as part of the County’s public art collection.
