County Opens Community Art Center Survey

COUNTY News:

Residents are invited to complete a brief survey to share their thoughts about what they believe are important characteristics for a community art center.

The survey is available on the County’s Open Forum page at https:////www.losalamosnm.us/gov/Pages/PublicCommentForum.aspx#peak_democracy, or available in printed format in the west vestibule of the Municipal Building.

In addition, staff from the Community Services Department will be available to hand out and collect surveys during the next Farmers’ Market 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.

The final Tuesdays at the Pond was scheduled for Aug. 11, featuring Marcos Cavalcante and Band at Ashley Pond Park.
 
However, just announced, Tuesdays at the Pond has extended the successful concert series schedule by one week to include The Silver Lines at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18.
 
The Silver Lines are an alternative rock band from Socorro featuring Los Alamos resident and guitarist Matt Broomfield, drummer Nick Davis and bassist Greg Holmes. The three met in school at Socorro and are delighted to be playing in Los Alamos

This alternative rock band is touring from Houston through New Mexico to California. 
 
They recently played the Rock The Desert Festival in Midland, Texas where Los Alamos concert organizer, Phil Jacobson, was able to meet the band and see them play some great music. 
 
The show, organized by Infinity Squared Music, is 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at Victory Faith Church in Espanola, and is sponsored by White Rock Baptist Church.

Crowds have been gathering all summer in Central Park Square as seen Thursday with a packed house inside the Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op that spills onto the patio. Spaces Available At Final Two White Rock Artist Markets

White Rock Artist Market has space available for its two remaining outdoor Artist Markets, Labor Day weekend Saturday Sept. 5, and the final market for the season Balloon Fiesta Saturday Oct 3. 

Local artists and artisans are encouraged to sell at the market. On average 400-600 visitors go through the White Rock Visitor Center each day in conjunction with the shuttle going to and from Bandelier National Monument.

Fall classes at Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) begin Monday Aug. 31. 

The Fall 2015 schedule features eight levels of ballet technique, pointe and pas de deux. Cecchetti Grades 1-3 are offered to students interested in participating in the Cecchetti Council of America exams in Spring 2016.

Students interested in non-ballet genres of dance can choose from Modern Dance, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and Jazz Funk. In addition, adults have the opportunity to study classical ballet and belly dancing.
