This week we are opening Transformers: Age of Extinction. We will hold Chef, The Fault in our Stars, and How to Train your Dragon 2. Edge of Tomorrow will end Thursday.

I went to see Chef the other night and liked it so much I decided to hold it another week. It is funny, thoughtful, and refreshing and I don’t think it deserves an R rating. ‘Images of Mary in the New World’ Exhibit Opens at New Mexico History Museum June 29

A new exhibit, “Painting the Divine: Images of Mary in the New World” opens June 29 at the New Mexico History Museum (NMHM) in Santa Fe, with an array of special events planned throughout the summer and fall.

The Than Povi Fine Art Gallery at Cuyumungue – exit 176 Hwy 84/285, will present an exhibition of paintings and prints by Native-American artist Gerald Nailor Jr., beginning Aug. 23.

A reception for the artist is 3-6 p.m., Aug. 21.

The works comprise a comprehensive sampling of Nailor’s art. The exhibition includes 43 watercolor, tempera, oil and pastel paintings as well as archival inkjet prints and two unique sets of jewelry handmade from micaceous clay.

LA Airport Sponsors ‘Frozen’ at Sundown Today

COUNTY News:

Disney’s uber-popular movie “Frozen” will be shown at sundown today at East Park in Los Alamos.

The event is sponsored by the Los Alamos County Airport as part of the summer “Movies in the Park” series.

Airport Manager Peter Soderquist will be available before the show to hand out schedules for the new commercial air service being offered through New Mexico Airlines with convenient daily flights available between Los Alamos County Airport and Albuquerque’s Sunport.

‘Longmire’ Staging Area At Valles Caldera

The staging area at the Valles Caldera National Preserve where filming is underway at the cabin that serves as the home for the title character in the A&E series ‘Longmire.’ Yellow and black directional signs marked  ‘LM’ are posted on Central Avenue and around Los Alamos to guide film vehicles through town and out to the Valles Caldera. Taos School of Music Hosts Young Artist Concerts

Taos School of Music will host a Young Artist Concert  at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at the Hotel St. Bernard, Taos Ski Valley. Young musicians will perform Beethoven String Quartet Op. 74 “Harp” and Schumann Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 63. The concert is free and open to the public.

PEEC Offers Silent Auction of Dorothy Hoard Artworks

Before her death in March, Dorothy Hoard, one of the most beloved women in Los Alamos, a Living Treasure, and ardent supporter of the community, entrusted her friend Terry Foxx with her artwork.
