For nearly 40 years, the Earned Income Tax Credit has been helping low- to moderate-income workers by giving them a boost to their income. Four out of five eligible workers claim EITC, but the IRS wants every eligible worker to claim and get this credit.

Here are some things the IRS wants you to know about this important credit:

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Tom Udall encourages veterans, service members and their eligible dependents to use a new online GI Bill Comparison Tool launched by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA.)

The tool provides users of the Post-9/11 GI Bill with increased information about colleges, universities and other education and training programs.

Course selection is just a few days away and will be available on PowerSchool Feb. 10. While selecting your courses online in PowerSchool, LAHS would like you to complete all of the paperwork for the next school year, 2014-15. Resolution Filed Requiring Advanced Education for County Treasurers

SANTA FE–State Sen. Jacob Candelaria, D-Bernalillo, has introduced Senate Joint Resolution 19, requiring that county treasurers in New Mexico have increased educational qualifications, as well as continuing to receive related education throughout their tenure.

Bill tabled on same day its sponsors are being honored as DWI “Legislative Champions”

SANTA FE–Efforts to stop drunk driving and protect the rights of victims suffered a huge blow in the House Transportation and Public Works Committee Thursday. House Bill 10, a comprehensive bipartisan package to target repeat drunk drivers, was tabled in committee.
