National School Choice Week Raising Awareness

STATE News:
 
SANTA FE–– National School Choice Week is underway in New Mexico and across the country. There are 126 events planned in the Land of Enchantment to raise awareness about K-12 school choice, and 16,140 events nationwide. 

The events in New Mexico, which are independently planned and independently funded, include everything from information sessions and open houses at schools to rallies, policy discussions, and movie screenings organized by community groups. On Thursday, Jan. 28, hundreds of supporters will rally for school choice at the capitol.

I’ve never seen the movie Dumb and Dumber, but when I saw Sara the ImPaler and McDonald T Rump touting that God and guns go together, all I could think of was dumb and dumber.
 
The problem is, I’m not sure who is dumb and who is dumber. Can anyone imagine Jesus with an M-16? What is wrong with our society that we appreciate the worst of humanity? Los Alamos Big Band Community Dance/Concert Feb. 5

The Los Alamos Big Band will host a free dance/concert to the community 7-9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5 at Fuller Lodge to thank the community for its many years of support.
The event includes big band music of the 40’s featuring many vocals and solos from the band members. While there is no cost, donations are welcome to pay for the event space.

Legislation To Give Judges Full Picture Of Criminal Histories Passes House

STATE News:
 
SANTA FE  A bill that will give judges access to the full criminal histories of violent offenders passed the House Regulatory and Public Affairs Committee by a 7-0 vote.
 
House Bill 72, also called Jaydon’s Law, is sponsored by Reps. Nate Gentry and Paul Pacheco.
 
“Currently, judges don’t have access to a complete view a criminal defendants violent criminal history,” Gentry said. “This bill will give them the information they need to make fully informed sentencing and pre-trial decisions.”
