FBI & U.S. Attorney: French National Gets 111 Months For Armed Robberies Targeting Albuquerque Businesses

ALBUQUERQUE — A French national was sentenced to 111 months in federal prison for a series of armed robberies in Albuquerque on Halloween 2019.

There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court documents, on the morning of Oct. 31, 2019, Mathis Laau, 26, entered the lobby of Motel 6 at 13141 Central Ave. NE in Albuquerque. He pointed a firearm at a clerk and demanded money. The clerk gave Laau $300 and he left.

NMDWS: New Mexico July Unemployment Rate Was 4%

NMDWS News:

The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) has issued the unemployment data for July 2024.

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.0 percent in July, up from 3.9 percent in June and up from 3.7 percent in the previous year.

The national unemployment rate in July was 4.3 percent, up from 4.1 percent in June and up from 3.5 percent in July 2023.

Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 19,200 jobs, or 2.2 percent, between July 2023 and July 2024. The majority of gains came from the private sector.

Hitting the news this week … cyber criminals leaked 2.7 billion records of personal information for US, UK and Canadian citizens on a dark web forum. Information included names, social security numbers, all known physical addresses, and possible aliases. Yikes.
