This year’s Los Alamos Artists Studio Tour is Oct. 11-12 and the Los Alamos Daily Post is featuring a “Get to Know Your Artist” series leading up to the annual event.
Each of the 16 artists participating in the tour will be showcased prior to the beginning of the tour to allow our readers an opportunity to learn about them and their work.

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutting block party Saturday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the completion of the road construction on Central Avenue between 15th & 20th Streets.
“We would like to invite the public to be part of a ‘cash mob’ to show support of the downtown businesses by filling the stores and doing some Saturday shopping as soon as the ribbon is cut,” said Nancy Partridge, Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce Manager.

New Missile Defense Work Coming To New Mexico

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M. announced Wednesday that IEC-SoCal Braiding and Continental Machine were awarded contracts to manufacture missile defense components in Albuquerque.
The contracts are part of a $149 million contract awarded to Raytheon by Rafael for the Iron Dome Weapon short-range rocket defense system.

The contest underway to rename Los Cerros Apartments at 3000 Trinity Dr. and 40 apartment units in the Gold Street subdivision ends at 5 p.m. today.
Topper Ridge, Pajarito Pines, Normandy, Plateau Pines, Mesa Ridge, Canyon Oak and Canyon Crest, The Manhattan Projects, The Cottonwoods and Vista del Sol are just a few of the many names suggested to date.
