Roger Waterman Throws Hat in County Council Race

Los Alamos native Roger Waterman announced today that he is running for a seat on the Los Alamos County Council.

Waterman is a Republican and partner in TRK Management, a family business.

“I served three terms on council a long time ago and now have more time to spend (on public service),” Waterman said. “I feel that perhaps with my prior experience on council and my business experience, I can bring a healthy perspective to the council.”

Suspect on the Loose after Santa Fe Branch of Bank of Albuquerque Robbery

The FBI and Santa Fe Police Department are investigating an armed bank robbery that occurred Friday, March 16, at the Bank of Albuquerque at 706 Saint Michaels Dr., #A in Santa Fe.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 30s, 5’8” tall, with a medium build and black hair.

He wore an olive-green jacket with a hood, jeans, a dark mask, and white gloves.

Witnesses say the suspect walked into the bank at approximately 12:45 p.m. and demanded money from a teller.

Lobos, Still Never Been Kissed!

The University of New Mexico Lobos Men’s Basketball team lost their bid for their first ever sweet sixteen berth. The Louisville Cardinals defeated the Lobos 59-56 in the third round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Portland Oregon on Saturday Night.

The game was a nail biter. The Lobos seemed to be in control of the ball initially and looked to be superior to Louisville but then Louisville gained their strength, leading by 15 at one point in the game.

Oversight Committee Gives Collective Order of Preference to CIP Phase II Projects

On Thursday evening, the CIP Evaluation and Oversight Committee reviewed the list of CIP Phase 2 projects that have applied to proceed to Council for Design/Build consideration, and gave a collective “order of preference” listing. The result is shown below.

The list was developed by first taking input from each member of the Committee on their personal order of preference, and then discussing and adjusting the listing to reach and average the total number of points per project.

Run for Her Life a Big Success Despite Fierce Winds

Sports News:

Local runners braved cold temperatures today to participate in the second annual Run for Her Life, a 5K and 10K race to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.

The race was presented by the Los Alamos Chapter of Hadassah and Atomic City Roadrunners.

All donations and race proceeds will be donated to Hadassah for breast cancer research, education and treatment.
