Traffic Alert: Pavement Preservation Work On Canyon Road
COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division crews begin today, April 7, to conduct pavement preservation work along Canyon Road, from 15th Street to Diamond Drive, and Central Avenue from Oppenheimer to Canyon Road.
This work is scheduled to continue through April 21. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on days when the weather and temperature are favorable.
A flagging operation will be used and pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic are urged to use caution while traveling through this work zone.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials today announced 181 new COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reports zero new case today so the total remains 503 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
Today’s update includes 8 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

County Re-advertises Human Resources Manager Position
Staff Report
Los Alamos County is looking for a new human resources manager following the departure of recently hired Jennifer Dorian.
County Manager Harry Burgess told the Los Alamos Daily Post today that the position is being re-advertised.
Dorian worked for the County from Jan. 11 to March 29, filling the vacancy created with the retirement of longtime HR Manager Denise Cassel.
Burgess issued an email to all County employees on March 30 with the following message:

County, Nambe Drugs Host Mass Vaccination Clinic April 25
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County is partnering with Nambe Drugs to conduct a large-scale vaccination clinic 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 25 at Griffith Gymnasium on the Los Alamos High School campus.
The event is open to anyone to register for an appointment with the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH), according to County Emergency Manager Beverley Simpson.
Simpson said she anticipates several hundred youth ages 16 to 18 may be able to get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at the event.

With its charter approved and members selected, the Racial Equity, and Inclusivity Task Force can now get to work.
Los Alamos County Council unanimously approved the task force’s charter and appointed nine individuals to serve on the task force during its regular meeting March 30.

While Los Alamos citizens can conduct most county business with the Customer Care Center (CCC) via phone or email 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the work week, limited in-person transactions will now be possible.

The Los Alamos County Resiliency, Energy and Sustainability Task Force (LARES) is seeking letters of interest to appoint up to 15 community members to serve on the following subcommittees:

Traffic Alert! Lane Shift To North Side Of N.M. 502 For Roundabout Project Starts Monday April 5

Beginning Monday, east bound traffic east of the roundabout will shift to the north side of N.M. 502 and channel back into the east bound lane in front of the Crossroads Church.
