LAPD UPDATE: Main Hill Road Has Reopened
LAPD News:
UPDATE: The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) reports that the Main Hill Road has reopened following this morning’s two-vehicle accident.
“The Main Hill is now open, and all the involved vehicles have been removed,” Cmdr. Daniel Robert said. “We thank the community for their patience.”
Cmdr. Roberts said that one of the individuals involved in the accident did sustain injuries and was transported to Los Alamos Medical Center for treatment.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department has taken over the scene and will determine whether either driver involved in the accident is cited. Read More

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) is responding to a two-vehicle accident on the Main Hill Road/N.M. 502.
At this time, the main hill will be shut down in both directions.
Please use the truck route (East Jemez Road) until the road is reopened.

County: First Half Of 2025 Property Taxes Due Dec. 10

COUNTY News:
Property tax bills for 2025 were mailed to property owners by Los Alamos County’s Finance Division Nov. 1. The deadline for the first half of property taxes is Dec. 10, 2025. It is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure property taxes are paid to avoid late payment penalty and interest charges.
Los Alamos County offers various methods to make it easy for payments to be made before the deadline.
These methods are as follows:
- In person: Property owners can remit payment in person at the Customer Care Center located in the lobby of the Municipal Building (1000 Central Ave.),

Winter weather is coming, and the County would like to remind motorists of some important safety considerations. Streets may be snow-packed and slippery during winter storms.
It is the responsibility of every motorist to have their vehicle ready for winter conditions, and to drive carefully and courteously to ensure everyone’s safety.
Motorists should prepare all vehicles for winter driving conditions with these important steps:
- Make sure the washer fluid reservoir is topped off with washer fluid that is winter rated,
- Make sure windshield wipers are functional and working

During the winter months, Los Alamos County’s Traffic and Streets Division works hard to ensure safe travel by plowing snow from designated streets and sidewalks. To enhance the effectiveness of snow and ice control operations, the snow response team would like to remind residents that they also play a crucial role in maintaining clear and safe pathways.
To support this effort, residents are asked to:
- To clear sidewalks and driveways within 24 hours of the end of a storm.

Los Alamos County Office of Emergency Management (LAC-OEM) was informed by OnSolve CodeRED, the County’s emergency alert system at 5:52 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, of a detection of potential vulnerabilities in the platform.
The company immediately suspended platform access for a comprehensive review of any unauthorized access. Access has since been restored; however, capabilities will be limited temporarily as the system is coming back online.

Los Alamos County Council To Consider Ordinance For Up To $40 Million In GRT Revenue Bonds

The Los Alamos County Council will hold a public hearing on Ordinance No. 750 as part of its Council meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, 1000 Central Ave.
The ordinance, if adopted, would authorize the issuance of up to $40 million in Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) Improvement Revenue Bonds to help fund the Community Broadband Network and other public facility improvements.
