Los Alamos County will hold a question-and-answer session to discuss Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas (MRAs) in Los Alamos and White Rock from 5:30-7 tonight, in the Boards and Commissions Room of the Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave.
This session is open to the public and a hybrid option is available for remote participation via Zoom.
Staff from the Community Development Department will provide an overview of MRAs, explain the designation process, and answer questions about opportunities for property owners and the broader community. MRAs are districts where public Read More

County Dept. Of Public Utilities To Hold Work Session Nov. 5

The Board of Public Utilities will hold a work session in Council Chambers at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5.

County: Water Repair Prompts West Road Closure
COUNTY News:
West Road from Diamond Drive to Fairway Drive will be closed to traffic in both directions 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday while water distribution crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) repair a large water leak.
During that time, West Road will be closed to semi-trucks between Fairway Drive and N.M. 502. Anyone else wishing to drive on that portion of West Road will need to detour through Western Area using Trinity Drive, 43rd Street, and Fairway Drive to access it.

Los Alamos County Ice Rink Opening Delayed Until Late Nov.

The Los Alamos County Ice Rink will have a delayed opening due to mechanical issues. The new anticipated opening date is Nov. 28, 2025. We will announce a confirmed opening date as soon as more information becomes available.
In addition, late night facility operations at the rink will begin on Nov. 12, 2025.

Mesa Public Library, White Rock Branch To Close Nov. 7 For Staff Development
LIBRARY News:
Mesa Public Library and the White Rock Branch will be closed Friday, Nov. 7 for a staff development day.
Library staff will take part in presentations on a variety of topics relevant to libraries. The training is part of an ongoing effort to support professional growth and enhance services for citizens.
Workshops will focus on practical library skills, collaboration across departments and addressing current issues in the field. Staff also will share experiences and strategies to strengthen public service.

Cowboy Breakfast At Sheriff’s Posse Lodge Sunday
Sheriff’s Posse News:
The Los Alamos County Sheriff’s Posse is hosting its monthly Cowboy Breakfast this Sunday, Nov. 2.
The breakfast is served 7-11 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Posse Lodge at 650 North Mesa Road, near the North Mesa Stables.
The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes:
- Pancakes – Banana, Blueberry, Chocolate Chip and Plain;
- Scrambled Eggs;
- Sausage;
- Bacon; and
- Coffee, Tea and Orange Juice.
The price for adults is $10, children 4-10 years of age $5 and those 0-3 are free.

They don’t really matter. I leave it to people who really care about those issues.”

The Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) took delivery of a plane fuselage today for use in future training exercises.
The fuselage will be stationed at the Los Alamos Airport, where it will serve as a training tool for the Crash Fire Rescue 6 truck, which is housed at Fire Station 6.
LAFD will conduct Aircraft Rescue Firefighter Training to practice response times and scenarios to maintain operational readiness for this type of incident. No live fire will be utilized at the site. Read More
