Los Alamos Police Search For Suspected Hit & Run Driver
LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department Criminal Investigations Section is investigating a possible hit & run of a vehicle vs. a cyclist that occurred around 7:45 a.m. June 27 on N.M. 4 near mile marker 56 (TA-33).
LAPD Detectives have been interviewing witnesses and compiling evidence of this event.
If anyone believes they may have hit a cyclist on this date it would be in their best interest to contact the LAPD Investigations Section at 505.663.1795.

Los Alamos County Sheriff Advises Community Of Newly Registered Sex Offender Jacob Weeks

Los Alamos County Sheriff Joseph Granville is advising the community of a newly registered sex offender.
Jacob Weeks registered Wednesday Sept. 2, 2020 with the local sheriff’s office.
He was convicted in the First District Court of Los Alamos of 1 count of “Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor”, which is a third degree felony.
Weeks is residing at 20 N.M. 4 in White Rock.

Downtown Master Plan Design Workshops Sept. 21, Oct. 5

As part of the Downtown Master Plan project, the County and project team Dekker Perich Sabatini will host two virtual Design Workshops Sept. 21 and Oct. 5.
The workshops build upon the goals and vision identified during the Visioning Workshops held Aug. 19 and Aug. 20.
These “hands on” events aim to identify future development scenarios for the downtown areas in White Rock and Los Alamos, which use the goals and vision as guiding criteria. Each development scenario will be evaluated by its ability to address various goals.

Beginning 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, Los Alamos County will open the application period for individuals and small businesses to apply for Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) funding’
This funding is received from the Federal Government and disbursed through the State of New Mexico’s Department of Finance Administration (DFA) to local governments.
The application period will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.

REDINet Fiber Cut Scheduled To Occur This Weekend
COUNTY News:
As part of the N.M. 502 Roundabout construction, REDINet crews will be cutting and re-routing fiber located within the construction zone, resulting in a disruption of County internet services internal to County employees.
The work is expected to be completed by Monday morning.
Since the majority of County services are provided to the public Monday through Friday during regular business hours, impacts to most services will be minimal.

County Biannual Community Survey Gets Underway
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County has contracted with National Research Center (NRC) to conduct its biannual community survey.
The survey will begin mailing out to randomly selected homes in Los Alamos and White Rock this week. Residents can take the survey online using a provided link, or complete a paper copy and return it to NRC in a postage-paid envelope to be tabulated.
Surveys will be collected until Oct. 20 and results will be available to the public in late November.

Update: Lineman crews report power is restored to the Pajarito Ski Hill.

There is a power outage underway that is affecting the Pajarito Ski Hill.
A Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities contractor while performing pole inspections identified a dangerous broken pole.
Due to the very unsafe conditions, potential for a fire hazard and growing high winds at the ski hill, it was determined that the pole needed to be replaced immediately.
