Complaint By CDAB Member Against Councilor Dismissed

A compliant filed by Community Development Advisory Board (CDAB) member Anna Dillane against Los Alamos County Councilor David Izraelevitz has been dismissed.
Dillane filed the complaint Aug. 18 and County Human Resource Manager Denise Cassel issued a decision Aug. 29.
In her letter to Cassel about the compliant, Dillane explained she opposed Izraelevitz’s comments as CDAB Chair Aaron Walker made a presentation about the CDAB during the July 28 County Council meeting.

Library Taking Reservations For Internet Computers Sept. 8

Los Alamos County Library has announced the next phase of re-opening with COVID-Safe Practices in place.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, both Mesa Public Library and the White Rock Branch Library will take reservations for use of the Library’s internet computers.
Reservations may be made for 45-minute sessions between the hours of 2-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Patrons may have one outstanding reservation at a time and may make a subsequent reservation upon completion of their reserved computer session.

County Council To Consider Property Tax Rates Tuesday

The Los Alamos County Council will consider property tax rates at its Tuesday evening meeting.
Tax rates are calculated by the State’s Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) pursuant to the local Assessor’s Office annual valuation report.

Governor, DFA Announce $150 Million In Grants To Support New Mexico Local Governments; Small Businesses

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and the Department of Finance and Administration announced today $150 million in CARES Act grants to local governments across New Mexico to cover the cost of necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency.
The governor announced that Los Alamos County will receive a $1,065,000 grant award for small businesses via local governments and a direct local government grant award of $656,250.

August Utility Bill Delay For Some White Rock Customers

COUNTY News:
Approximately 400 Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities’ customers did not receive an August utilities bill.
Department officials explain that the error was discovered late Monday. The billing file for the 400 White Rock customers in billing cycle 13 was inadvertently dropped when DPU’s bill print vendor transmitted the file to be printed.
As a result, bills in cycle 13, which should have been printed and mailed Aug. 12, are instead being printed and mailed today, Sept. 1. Bills will not arrive until the middle of next week.
