Counties Welcome Passage Of Coronavirus Relief Package With $187.5 Billion In Essential Aid For Local Governments

WASHINGTON – The U.S. House today passed the HEROES Act, the potential next phase of relief for the coronavirus pandemic.
The bill includes two separate, equal funds for counties and cities and provides $187.5 billion in vital relief to counties to address both lost revenue and increased expenditures as the result of the coronavirus pandemic.

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday urged New Mexicans to stay the course in the state’s fight against the spread of COVID-19 as a modified emergency public health order eases restrictions on retail operations and requires everyone to wear a cloth face covering in public, among other changes.

County Manager Comments On Essential Services Status; Addresses Governor’s Directive For Everyone To Wear Face Coverings In Public Starting Saturday Due To COVID-19

County Manager Harry Burgess announced today that the County will continue its Essential Services status for the near future, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in response to the executive order issued by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.
The Governor’s order expires today, May 15, and although she has stated the State will move into Phase One Recovery, her stay at home order is still in effect.

Traffic Alert: Water Line Work 15th Street At Myrtle Monday
Traffic Alert:
The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crew will be replacing a water line on the west side of 15th Street at Myrtle Monday.
Southbound traffic on 15th Street will be merged into the center turn lane beginning at 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. as the crew completes repairs.
Water services will not be interrupted during this project.
DPU officials advise motorists to observe the speed limit and traffic control devices in the area.

Summer Concert News:
The 2020 Los Alamos Summer Concert Series will not be hosting any live shows in May or June at Ashley Pond Park due to the New Mexico state guidelines concerning social distancing during the COVID 19 pandemic.
The series, originally scheduled May 22 – Aug. 28, will instead offer virtual concerts with many of the same artists originally booked for the 2020 live concerts.
