Senior Appreciation Night Planning Meeting March 12
COUNTY News:
Planning meetings for the 2020 Senior Appreciation Night (SAN) Los Alamos High School graduation take place 1–2 p.m., the second Thursday of each month, March through June in the Walkup Aquatic Center Training Room.
The next meeting is Thursday, March 12.
Individuals and volunteers interested in helping to plan a safe, fun-filled, drug free, all-night celebration are invited to attend the SAN Planning meetings or sign-up to volunteer during the events.

Crack Sealing On San Ildefonso Road Begins March 9
Traffic Alert:
Los Alamos County Public Works Traffic & Streets Division will begin a pavement preservation project on the North Mesa.
Crews will be crack sealing on San Ildefonso Road from the round-a-bout to Sioux Street.
Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work is anticipated to be completed in early April, weather permitting.
A flagging operation will be used to move vehicles safely through the work zone. Vehicle traffic is urged to slow down and obey all traffic control devices.

The Regional Coalition of LANL Communities (RCLC) might get a new role to play in the region with Los Alamos County Council’s help.

NNSA Addresses Legacy Waste Materials On DP Road

This afternoon a National Nuclear Security Administration spokesperson addresses the situation regarding the recent discovery of legacy waste materials on DP Road.
The spokesperson explained that at the request of Los Alamos County, NNSA’s Radiological Assistance Program Team responded Thursday, Feb. 20, to a Los Alamos County-owned tract of land on DP Road to evaluate legacy materials that were unearthed Friday, Feb. 14.

Los Alamos Police Department Launches Traffic Enforcement Efforts Focused On Accident Related Violations
LAPD News:
Starting now and continuing through the summer, the Los Alamos Police Department will be conducting traffic enforcement, focusing on accident related violations to include seat belt enforcement.
There also will be random DWI checkpoints throughout the county during this time frame.
The public can help reduce the risk of vehicle crashes by adhering to posted speed limit signs, allowing enough room between them and the vehicle they are following and driving with caution when roadways are wet.

Firefighter John P. Kelley Has Resigned Effective Today
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County Firefighter John P. Kelley has submitted his resignation from the Los Alamos Fire Department effective today, Feb. 25, 2020.
Kelley was arrested Friday, Feb. 21 and charged with sexual exploitation of a child/possession.
Kelley had been placed on inactive duty status and placed on leave without pay, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation and in accordance with personnel policy.
Because this is an ongoing criminal investigation, the County will have no other comment at this time.
Golf Course Advisory Subcommittee Meets Thursday
Traffic Alert: Utility Work On 43rd Street Thursday
Traffic Alert:
Water crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will close a small section of 43rd Street north of Urban in North Community Thursday, Feb. 27 to replace a water service line.
The road closure and work are scheduled for one day only.
Crews will close this small section of road near the property at 2164 43 St. beginning at 7:30 a.m. and reopen by 7 p.m. Thursday.
DPU crews will maintain access to residents’ homes at all times. No water service interruption is anticipated.
Drivers are urged to observe the speed limit and traffic control signs.
