Due to inclement weather, Clean Up Los Alamos Day has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 18.
The volunteer appreciation lunch will be held noon to 1 p.m. May 18 at Ashley Pond Park.

Deadline Is Friday To Volunteer As ‘Actors’ For County-Wide Emergency Exercise At UNM-LA
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County will be conducting a County-wide active shooter exercise Saturday, May 18 at the University of New Mexico – Los Alamos campus at 4000 University Dr. in Los Alamos.
The campus will be closed May 18 for the exercise, which is being conducted in order to test and improve the County’s overall preparedness in responding to an active shooter event. The County has received 15 applications to be volunteers as “actors” in the exercise, but would like to have more participation from the community.

Acting Chief of Police Jason Herrera released crime statistics for the first quarter of 2019 which were compiled by the Records Section of the Los Alamos Police Department.
Offenses reported as crime statistics are determined by the FBI Uniform Crime Report Program and are classified as crimes against persons (violent crime) and crimes against property. Life is beginning to return to normal for the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities’ staff after the county’s go-live date for its new enterprise resource planning software.
This new software was launched on July 1, 2018 and included a new utility billing program which created a flurry of customer billing concerns. The majority of grievances were related to delayed bills and incorrect consumption graphs, service periods, multipliers and at times, incorrect totals on the printed bills.

Los Alamos County would like to remind property owners that the second installment for 2018 property tax bills becomes delinquent after Friday, May 10.
Payment must either be made in person at the Customer Care Center by 4 p.m. May 10 or postmarked by midnight that same day to avoid late payment penalty and interest charges.
The Customer Care Center is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday in the Los Alamos County Municipal Building lobby at 1000 Central Ave.
