The Library has a new program designed to get people started with crafts, with no prior experience needed. The second class in the series “Make It @ the Library” is 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Zone at Mesa Public Library, 2400 Central Ave. Everyone who attends will learn a new technique for crafting with paper and will complete a project in one evening.

April Is Underage Drinking Prevention Month

April is Underage Drinking Prevention month and April 21 is highlighted as a reminder to parents to talk with their kids about alcohol.
According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, young people who drink are:
- More likely to be victims of crime, to be in accidents, and to struggle in school;
- More likely to be sexually active; and
- Four times more likely to become dependent on alcohol.

Residents are reminded that the deadline for letters of interest to apply for the Tourism Implementation Task Force is 5 p.m. Thursday, April 19.
The task force will be appointed by the Los Alamos County Council at its May 1 meeting.

LANL And LAFD Respond To Bulging Drum At Sigma Facility
LANL News:
Los Alamos National Laboratory personnel and Los Alamos Fire Department responded to a report of a bulging drum at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Sigma facility, according to a LANL spokesman.
“The drum has been rendered safe, and there is no threat to workers or the public. Full access to the facility has been restored,” the spokesman said.

New Mexico Environment Department Accepts 2016-2017 Los Alamos Airport Landfill Report
Los Alamos County Airport. Courtesy/LACThe New Mexico Environment Department has accepted the 2016-2017 report on the Los Alamos County Airport evapotranspiration landfill cover, which states that the cover is in excellent condition and is performing as designed.
