Anthony Lambson, 21, just received his High School Equivalency Credential from the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA). While this would be a cause for celebration for anyone, it is particularly significant for Lambson who will be leaving the Los Alamos Detention Center Thursday after almost 18 months in custody. East Bound Trinity Drive Lane & Median Closure

Road construction and traffic diversion begins at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 21 and continues through Dec. 26 while crews adjust manholes.
The Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division of Public Works will close the eastbound inside lane and median between 15th and 20th Street.
The closure will remain in place over the Holiday weekend to allow for concrete to set.

Reservoir, Access Road Closed Beginning In January
COUNTY News:
Pedestrian access to the Los Alamos Canyon Reservoir and surrounding areas west of the Ice Rink off West Road will be closed in early January through the summer of 2018.
The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will construct a new 10-inch non-potable water pipeline from the reservoir along the reservoir access road and connect to the townsite’s non-potable water system.
Department officials warn that construction crews with heavy equipment will be utilizing and working on the single dirt road rendering it and the surrounding area unsafe for hikers and/or cyclists. Read More

LAPD Responds To Group Brawl At Smith’s Marketplace
One of two young men detained this evening by Los Alamos police officers sits on the ground as the other is handcuffed. Los Alamos police officers stopped the white pickup with the two men inside at around 6 p.m. in the Smith’s Marketplace parking lot. Both men were detained and transported to the Los Alamos Detention Center and reportedly released. County Issues RFP For 20th Street Parcels

The Los Alamos County is selling the six, half acre lots on 20th Street and hoping to attract local buyers.
“The RFP (request for proposals) is written in the way that you can propose on just one lot, multiple lots or the entire parcel,” County Economic Development Administrator Joan Ahlers said.

Homebuyer Assistance Program Draws Interest

It just kicked off last month but already the Homebuyer Assistance Program has garnered a lot of interest.
The Homebuyer Assistance Program is funded by the County and the Los Alamos Housing Project (LAHP) administers the program. Funds for the program became available Nov. 15 and so far, there has been 17 people who have met with LAHP Program Manager Steve Brugger.
