With the Laboratory beginning work on a site-wide bike plan, the County having just received Bronze level bicycle-friendly community status, and a plethora of good road and trail riding in Los Alamos and surrounding areas, there is a lot for local bicyclists to cheer about. That said, whether one is riding for fun, utility, or both, a lot still depends on the engagement and awareness of the rider in order to get out and back with the rubber side consistently down.

A 30-year-old Fairview woman was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession or use of drug paraphernalia after she was arrested Dec. 19 in the Los Alamos County Detention Center.

Update: LAMC Experiences Power Outage, Operating On Backup Power
Update: Power has been restored at LAMC.
LAMC News:
A power outage ocurred at 1 p.m. today at Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC). The hospital lost power is on backup power. Utility crews are on site working to restore power.
At 1:30 p.m. linemen determined that the power outage at the Los Alamos Medical Center was caused by a faulted underground line that feeds LAMC. LAMC is currently using its backup generator to supply power. Crews are in contact with medical center facilities staff. It is expected that it will to be restored by 4 p.m. today. Read More

The Los Alamos County Community Services Department (CSD) is excited to launch an all-inclusive Facebook page.
This page is a one-stop shop for all of the programs, activities and events offered by Community Services.

The public is invited to a book talk about “The Decadence of Delphi” by author Kristin Heineman at 7 p.m., Dec. 28, in the Upstairs Rotunda at Mesa Public Library, 2400 Central Ave., in Los Alamos. The talk is part of the monthly Authors Speak series put on by the Los Alamos County Library System.

Pattiz: UC Places ‘Utmost Importance’ On Local Communities
University of California Regent Norman J. PattizUniversity of California Regent Norman J. Pattiz has responded to a letter from Los Alamos County Council Chair David Izraelevitz assuring him that UC views its partnership with the Northern New Mexico Communities as a critical component to the successful operation of the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
