Council Chair Approaches UC On GRT Issue
Los Alamos County Council Chair David Izraelevitz Los Alamos County Council Chair David Izraelevitz has sent a letter to the University of California Board of Regents (UC) urging them to propose a corporate structure that retains gross receipts tax (GRT) taxability when they bid for the upcoming Los Alamos National Laboratory management and operating contract.
UC announced Nov. 16 that it will bid on the $2.2 million contract, which begins Oct. 1, 2018.

Utilities Department Launches Power Outage Probe
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities reports that a widespread power outage occurred at 2:54 a.m. today when one of two feeders to the townsite tripped.
Crews restored power by 6 a.m. to all affected customers by back feeding power from the working feeder.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of this outage, and once known, crews will implement a permanent fix. Read More
Supreme Court Denies Greg White’s Petition

Los Alamos County just released a statement that the Los Alamos Police Department has turned the search for the suspect who robbed Los Alamos National Bank today in White Rock over to the FBI who is now on scene.

Tree Trimming Around Power Lines Underway

Starting this week, Allied Tree Services, under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will begin trimming trees around power lines.
This work will begin on North Road and Urban Street. In subsequent weeks, crews will move around neighborhoods in the North Community.
