Road Paving Underway On NM 4 Through Wednesday
COUNTY News:
Final paving of N.M. 4 between East Jemez Road and Hwy 502 is scheduled for today and Wednesday.
To minimize traffic disruption, the Department of Public Utilities’ contractor will coordinate paving of lanes to occur at times with the least traffic.
Paving of southbound lanes are scheduled for this afternoon (two-way traffic will be maintained). Late Wednesday morning, paving of the northbound lane will occur and should be completed before 3:30 p.m. with two-way traffic again will being maintained. Read More

The Los Alamos DWI Planning Council and Atomic City Transit (ACT) are partnering once again to provide free safe ride services this Saturday, Oct. 28 in Los Alamos.
Ride service will be available 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Reservations will be accepted starting at 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27 and from 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

Police: Burglary Threat In Los Alamos; White Rock
LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department Criminal Investigations Section has received credible information that residences in Los Alamos County, to include White Rock, may soon be targeted for burglaries.
“We are stepping up our presence in the area,” Cmdr. Preston Ballew said.
Police are cautioning residents to take appropriate precautions: lock doors, leave lights on when appropriate, and notice and report suspicious persons, vehicles or activities in the neighborhood.

Sheriff Lucero Seeks To File Amended Complaint Against Los Alamos County Council
Staff Report
Attorney A. Blair Dunn has asked the First Judicial District Court for permission to file an amended complaint against the Los Alamos County Council on behalf of Sheriff Marco Lucero.
The original complaint was filed Aug. 29 as an emergency petition for writ of mandamus and complaint for declaratory judgment.
The motion to amend the complaint, filed Oct. 11, states that Dunn “consulted in good faith” with the Council’s counsel regarding the proposed amendment, which he claims seeks to rectify potential errors raised by the Council in its answer to Lucero’s original complaint. Read More

Reminder: Los Alamos County’s First Ever Guns To Gardens Gun Buyback Event Oct. 28

The community is invited to join the New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence (NMPGV) and Los Alamos Police Department 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 for the first ever Guns To Gardens Gun Buyback event.
Following a successful fundraising effort by NMPGV, Oct. 28 will mark the fourth statewide gun buyback to safely get unwanted working guns out of homes and off the streets. 
Over the coming year, RAWtools, in partnership with Santa Fe Community College welding and sculpture students, will forge unwanted, dismantled guns into garden tools and public art projects and installations. Read More

DPU To Conduct Automated Telephone Survey

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) customers may receive an automated telephone survey sometime between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. the week of Oct. 23.
The purpose is to assess the effectiveness of the DPU’s public awareness program designed to promote natural gas safety for all stakeholders, including customers without gas heaters or appliances. Survey duration is approximately five minutes long.
