Letter To The Editor: Rebuttal Of Letter By Fairbanks And West

By JOEL M. WILLIAMS
Los Alamos

In response to the Letter to the Editor by Tom Fairbanks and Elizabeth West (link):

Firstly, the Mesa Meadow presentations were completely out of order. Tennis courts at Mesa Meadows was NOT in the Bonding package. Tennis courts at JFK-Mesa Field was the ONLY venue in it! No other.

Next, several years ago, I had determined that courts could be built in Mesa Meadows without being on pool land. This was confirmed by the consultants more recently. Mesa Meadows is county land and not these residents’ backyards. XC skiing and bike riding on the grass Read More

By PATRICK BRENNER
Los Alamos

Now that the ugly smear campaign against the Office of Sheriff and our fantastic Sheriff Marco Lucero is over, will the Los Alamos County Council restore the duties to the Office that we elected Sheriff Lucero to perform?

The majority of these duties have since been transferred to the Police Department for reasons that the Council hasn’t made clear. Now that we again have an answer to whether Los Alamos wants a Sheriff (and the people responded “yes, Read More

Letter To The Editor: Petition And Rhetoric Misses Mark

By JOEL M. WILLIAMS
Los Alamos

It absolutely amazes me about what can be presented at a County Council meeting to defeat something. A case in point: the petition and rhetoric of a group at the Dec.  20, 2016, County Council meeting who spoke about the location of additional tennis courts in the area next to the current Los Alamos High School tennis courts (i.e., ‘Mesa Meadow’).

The action by this group of people demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the status of the tennis issue and the location of the new courts that the consultants were presenting to council to be included in the Read More
