SPORTS News:
Athletes competed in the Los Alamos Special Olympics Track and Field Meet Saturday at Sullivan Field.
Several volunteers helped work the event and Los Alamos Firefighters also assisted and placed ribbons on athletes at the conclusion of their events.

Los Alamos County Sheriff Marco Lucero just contacted the Los Alamos Daily Post to issue a public safety alert regarding a scam underway in the Los Alamos area.
Someone identifying himself as a Los Alamos County sheriff’s deputy and using an actual deputy’s name is placing telephone calls to residents listed on the sex offender registry saying they must withdraw $1,000 in cash from the bank and take the money to Smith’s parking lot where they will be met by the deputy. “They must do this to avoid being placed in jail.”

Public Safety Alert:
Los Alamos County Sheriff Marco Lucero is alerting the community to the possibility of a sex offender moving to or living in a county in New Mexico.
New Mexico Department of Public Safety has advised that Ray Glenn Smith, a convicted sex offender from the State of Texas is moving to an unknown county in the state of New Mexico.
Smith has not yet registered with any New Mexico Sheriff.
Sheriff Lucero is asking anyone who sees Smith in Los Alamos, to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 505.662.8028.
