Library Catalog Enhancements Begin Thursday
LIBRARY News:
The Los Alamos County libraries are transitioning Thursday to a new catalog and record-keeping system called Symphony.
“It will offer a number of enhanced features and we’re excited to share it with you,” Library Manager Steven Thomas said.
During the three-day transition period, March 16-18, the libraries will be open and able to do most of the normal operations, just in offline mode. Patrons are asked to bring their library cards with them to make the check-out process run more smoothly.

The Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management has launched its Environmental Management Los Alamos (EM-LA) Office.

Additional Traffic Control On West Road For Passage Of 12 Large Film Trucks Afternoon-Evening March 11

Los Alamos County has approved a flagging operation on the section of West Road between Diamond Drive and the top of Los Alamos Canyon (by the ice rink) to allow passage of 12 large filming trucks that require both lanes to safely negotiate the turns in the road.
This flagging operation will be conducted by a certified contractor and monitored by the County’s Traffic Division. Los Alamos Golf Course Now Open

The Los Alamos Golf Course reopended Friday and today the Golf Shop is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the first tee time is 10 a.m. and the range closes at 3:30 p.m.
Hours change Sunday when the Pro Shop will open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the first tee time is 10 a.m., frost permitting, and driving range hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sheriff’s Department Announces Newly Registered Sex Offender In Los Alamos County

Sheriff Marco Lucero advises Los Alamos County residents that a newly registered sex offender is residing in the community.
Byron Keith Henderson registered Tuesday, March 3 with the Los Alamos County Sheriff’s Office. Henderson was convicted of sexual assault in 2000 in Houston, Texas.
The Los Alamos Sheriff’s Office is unable to enter Mr. Henderson onto it “Offender Watch System” at this time. The department is waiting for the release information from Henderson’s previous jurisdiction.
