By SGT. DANIEL ROBERTSI would like to extend a thank you to the owners and employees of Morning Glory / Daylight Doughnuts. Los Alamos has seen a lot of snow these past few days. The snow and ice made very dangerous roads conditions and caused several crashes. The Los Alamos County road crews worked hard to keep up with the prevailing weather; working long hours without stop.

Charlie is a 9-year-old neutered male Maine coon cross who is reportedly good with adults, gentle children and cats. He might be fine with gentle dogs also, as he is a mellow cat.

Los Alamos Plastic Bag Survey: 64.65% Against Ban

Community Survey:
Results from the community survey conducted in the Los Alamos Daily Post reveal that 64.65 percent of the 1,027 respondents are against a County-wide ban of plastic bags and 35.44 percent are for it.
The banning of disposable plastic bags, such as those used at grocery stores has been a hot topic in Los Alamos County.

Traffic Control Set For Filming On Camp May Road
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County, in cooperation with Pajarito Mountain Ski Area, will facilitate intermittent traffic control March 2, 10 and 11 on Camp May Road between West Road and Pajarito Mountain to accommodate filming in Los Alamos County.
Intermittent traffic control will be conducted by a certified contractor and monitored by the County’s Traffic Division to include a flagging operation to safely guide traffic through the staging area where film vehicles will be parked along Camp May Road. Parking Lot At Trinity And 20th Closing March 2
COUNTY News:
The public parking lot at the corner of Trinity Drive and 20th Street, on the southeast corner of Ashly Pond Park will be closed effective Monday, March 2.
The Teen Center Remodel contractor, R&M Construction, will be using this parking lot as a staging area while the community building is remodeled. Toward the end of the remodel project, this parking lot will be reconfigured and reconstructed. The parking lot should reopen in September 2015. By GERALD ANTOSActually Mr. Birnbaum’s (letter) point is moot because at every gas and electric rate hike hearing for the last (many) years, the Utilities Department head has been quizzed about why the hikes were so high, why aren’t they doing better planning, etc.
Often hikes were returned for further consideration. Apparently this Council believes what they hear rather than delving into the issue. That does not speak well for the County in the future.
