DPU Warns Customers of Phishing Scam

DPU News:

Officials with Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities warn Los Alamos customers not to open any links or attachments in an email that’s part of a nationwide phishing scam. 

Several customers notified DPU that they are in receipt of emails from either Atmos Energy or Pacific Gas & Electric. The email claims that customers owe a balance for electric and gas services and provides a link to view a statement. Clicking on the link may take customers to a website that could potentially download viruses or harbor malware. Read More

Los Alamos County Administrator Harry Burgess issued the following statement today with regard to Wednesday’s filing of a lawsuit against the County by two former Los Alamos police commanders and a detective:

“Late Wednesday afternoon we were notified by media that the law office of George Geran chose to release to them a lawsuit supposedly filed against the County by three current/former LAPD officers.

Sioux Street Underground Electric Cable Replacement Project Begins

COUNTY News:

The Sioux Street Underground Electric Cable Replacement Project begins this week with completion planned for early to mid-March, according to officials at the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU.)

DPU News:

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will present to the Board of Public Utilities ordinance 02-239, which would implement a seasonal tiered water rate for residential and multi-family customers. Open to the public, the hearing is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave., Suite 110.

Should the Board approve the recommended ordinance it will be considered for adoption by the Los Alamos County Council at a public hearing tentatively scheduled in February.

Members of the public expressed their thoughts on proposed changes to the Los Alamos County Nuisance Code at tonight’s Council meeting.
