Society for Science has announced 30 finalists in the inaugural Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (Thermo Fisher JIC), the nation’s premier middle school science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) competition.

Tate Plohr, now a freshman at Los Alamos High School, is one of these finalists. His project is titled, The Stability of Solar Flares.

Literally and figuratively, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) is at the center of the action for the annular eclipse that will occur above Albuquerque during the final Saturday of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta!

Young Eagles Rally At Los Alamos Airport Saturday Oct. 21

EAA Chapter 691 of the Experimental Aircraft Association is hosting a Young Eagles Rally on Oct. 21, 2023, at the Los Alamos Airport.  

They will be giving free airplane rides to kids 8-17 years old. Parents can register online for the rally at https://youngeaglesday.org/?yedetail&event=890wd8o3Q. A legal guardian must accompany the child to the Rally where they will need to sign a registration form and a waiver prior to the child’s flight.
