Santa Fe Community College: Fiber Optic Technician Course

SANTA FE – After conducting several successful fiber optic training courses in 2022 which graduated over 80 new certified fiber optic technicians, Santa Fe Community College will host two additional five-day fiber optic training courses.
This is a hands-on intensive program that gives students the opportunity to earn three certifications from the Fiber Optic Association. The program is free for residents of Santa Fe county.

The Aspen Elementary School Odyssey of the Mind (OMERs) Division 2 team recently competed at the World Finals at Michigan State University. This is the first time the team has participated at this level of competition.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) is encouraging teachers with outstanding student loans to apply for debt forgiveness through the state’s Teacher Loan Repayment Program, which is now accepting applications until Aug. 1.

Seven Los Alamos High School art students won 10 awards in the 2023 New Mexico Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. Students were recognized at an awards ceremony earlier this year at the Orpheum Community Hub in Albuquerque.

Fort Selden Historic Site Hosts ‘ID An Animal’ June 17

Ranger Mike will guide visitors through his “ID an Animal” program 11 a.m. to noon June 17, at Fort Selden Historic Site.
Visitors will learn to identify animals commonly found throughout New Mexico. As part of the program, Ranger Mike will have an array of skulls, bones and pelts, which visitors can use as clues for identifying the various species.

Before you head off on summer vacation, remember to register for the 2023-2024 school year.
All students planning to attend any Los Alamos Public Schools site in the upcoming school year must complete the online registration process.
