PED Submits $3.85 Billion Budget Request To Address Educator Workforce Crisis, Lost Learning Time, Student Behavioral Health For New Mexico Schools

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) is requesting a $3.85 billion budget for public schools in the next fiscal year to address the educator workforce crisis, lost learning time and student behavioral health.

Those and other critically needed programs are included in the request, which is $441.8 million (13 percent) higher than what the Legislature appropriated for the current fiscal year.

Governor To Deliver 7% Raises To New Mexico Educators

The community is invited to visit the Los Alamos History Museum Friday Dec. 3, and pick up a free copy of local artist Jillian Pucket’s zine “Growing Up in the Secret City”.

This short comic explores the lives of kids in Los Alamos in the years after the Manhattan Project. A limited quantity is available.
