LAPS Healthy Schools has been highlighting “Belonging” for the month of October.
A sense of belonging includes feeling secure, recognized, connected and able to participate in something meaningful that gives us purpose.
A sense of belonging is a basic human need. Students who feel connected to their school communities do better in school and in life.

LANL Foundation Supports K-12 Education With $1.4M Influx
LANL Foundation News:
ESPAÑOLA — LANL Foundation has announced it is awarding 35 grants totaling $1.4 million to educational institutions, Tribal communities, schools and organizations serving public school students and educators across northern New Mexico to deliver meaningful programs throughout the course of the next two years.
This latest grant cycle is the largest competitive round of funding LANL Foundation has distributed to date to school and community-based educators and organizations. Each grantee has been awarded $20,000 per year for two consecutive years totaling $40,000. Read More

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) has announced that it awarded more than $157 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to 1,004 qualifying child care businesses across the state, constituting one of the largest investments in early care and education in New Mexico state history.
