LAPS Free Emergency Meals Program Begins Friday

LAPS News:
Chartwells and Los Alamos Public Schools are participating in the Free Emergency Meals program for any child 18 and under.
Beginning Friday, April 10, the program will include both a breakfast and lunch meal distribution twice a week.
The meals will be packaged together for one single distribution. Friday meals will be packaged for use on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Tuesday meals would cover Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Meals may be picked up curbside Tuesday and Friday:
- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Aspen Elementary School in Los Alamos;
- Noon to 1 p.m. at Piñon Elementary School

The University of New Mexico – Los Alamos (UNM-LA) is encouraging early registration for the summer and fall semesters. Class registration opens on April 13; class schedules are available online at losalamos.unm.edu/academics/class-schedule.html.
Due to the current CDC guidelines, all courses for summer will be online with the possibility of some in-person additions later in the summer.

Las Vegas, N.M. – Morgan Apperson of Los Alamos is a chemistry graduate at New Mexico Highlands University and is headed to a chemistry doctoral program at New Mexico Tech in Socorro.

LAS VEGAS, NM — Christopher Ulibarri, a student government leader at New Mexico Highlands University, is the university’s newest student regent.
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham made Ulibarri’s appointment official March 13. Ulibarri’s term extends to the adjournment of the next regular session of the New Mexico State Legislature in 2021.

SANTA FE – New Mexico public education will shift to a learn-at-home model as schools remain closed for the rest of the academic year, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and state education and child care officials announced today.
The decision is part of a two-pronged plan to protect New Mexicans from COVID-19 and ensure that children are protected, fed and educated and that families are supported through this crisis.
