Members of the Los Alamos High School (LAHS) class of 1989 have started a new tradition, and they have issued a cordial fundraising challenge to other graduating classes.
During the 1989 reunion in August, besides the usual social events, the class undertook a fundraiser in which they raised more than $10,000 for the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation. This fundraising challenge has become a fun and interactive way for LAHS

Ben Sandoval, director of the YMCA Teen Center in Espanola, recently spoke at the Rotary Club of Los Alamos about Team Intergalactic, the students from the YMCA who traveled to China in July to compete in the Entrepreneurial Challenge Category of the RoboRAVE International robotics competition. The project had to show an application for improving conditions in the world. LAHS Graduate And U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Aban Jebbanema Shares Experience With NJROTC Students
U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Aban Jebbanema spent four years in the NJROTC program at Los Alamos High School and graduated in 2004. He returned today to LAHS to speak to students enrolled in the NJROTC program, lead drills and share his experience. Following graduation in 2004, Chief Jebbanema spent two years studying at UNM in Albuquerque before entering the U.S. Navy where he has served for 12.5 years. He is preparing for his fourth deployment aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), which is the fourth Nimitz-class nuclear powered aircraft carrier in the United States Navy. Read More

The Los Alamos Federation of School Employee’s Committee on Political Education voted unanimously to endorse Julia Baker, Christine Bernstein and Dawn Jalbert for the Los Alamos School Board.
This group of union volunteers voted to endorse Christine Bernstein in the District 3 race. Bernstein has been an educator for more than 20 years and is a teacher in Pojoaque. She is dedicated to helping school staff feel supported in trying new ideas to help our students be the best they can be, and would bring the perspective of a teacher who is currently serving in the classroom.
