SAN DIEGO, Calif. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced Monday $14 million in awards to 10 universities across the country to pursue fusion energy research at the DIII-D National Fusion Facility in San Diego, Calif.
 
A major goal of the research is to develop and test innovative methods for understanding and sustaining high-temperature fusion plasmas, a key enabling step towards making fusion a virtually limitless source of practical energy.

ESPAÑOLA — The LANL Foundation is now accepting applications for $2,500 funding within its small grants program. Deadline to apply is Sept. 15, 2019.

Juvenile Justice Advisory Board Raising Funds To Provide School Supplies For LAPS Students

The Los Alamos Juvenile Justice Advisory Board (JJAB) is raising funds to provide school supplies for Los Alamos Public School students.

It is already time to start preparing for the upcoming school year. JJAB is starting its annual campaign, asking the community for financial donations that will be used to purchase supplies for the students at LAPS elementary schools, middle school, and high school.

A free, family event is underway right now at the Bradbury Sicence Museum. Children’s Science Author Misty Carty, who wrote Where Did The Sun Go, Where Is The Moon, and Why Are There Seasons, is giving a short talk with hands-on activities, followed by a book signing until 1pm today. She will have all three books on hand. Carty is a photographer with a Ph.D. in astronomy and has taught at Marymount and McKendree universities.
