Los Alamos Middle School Jazz bands hit the high notes, low notes and all the notes in between as they performed very well at the recent Albuquerque/UNM Jazz Fest. Jazz 1 and Jazz 3 received a Superior, rating of 1, while Jazz 2 received an Excellent, rating of 2.

SANTA FE – The State Land Office held its monthly online oil and gas lease sales, which garnered the largest open bid sale in history and generated more than $35 million for New Mexico schools, hospitals and colleges.
The open bid included 8,920.27 acres in Chaves, Lea and Eddy Counties and closed at over $12 million, more than double the previous record for an open bid.
The aggregate bid amounted to an average per-acre price of $3,961.25.

This month, the Boy Scouts of America began accepting girls from fifth grade through high school into a newly named program called Scouts BSA, which allows girls the opportunities boys have, including becoming Eagle Scouts, the highest rank in Boy Scouting.
The move comes a year after girls from first to fifth grade were allowed to join Cub Scouts.
