NNM Children’s Bible Quizzing Meet In White Rock

La Vista Church of the Nazarene in White Rock is hosting groups from other churches all over northern New Mexico, Sat. Feb. 9, for a Children’s Bible Quizzing meet.
Children’s Bible Quizzing is a Bible study program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade to learn a book of the Bible and with an optional competition component. There also is a Teen competition level, open to students in seventh through 12th grade.

Local trailmaster Craig Martin spoke recently at the Rotary Club of Los Alamos, describing the historical significance of the tree carvings at the Valles Caldera. Appearing in the soft wood of aspen trees, one carving dates to the 1890s, with most created by sheep herders between 1914 and the 1940s. The carvings reflect the importance of sheep herding in the wool and mutton economy of that time period in northern New Mexico. Perfect Pi Day Celebration In Los Alamos March 14

The Los Alamos Youth Activity Centers, a program of Los Alamos Family Council, will host the first ever communitywide Perfect Pi Day Celebration.
The March 14 event is 5-6 p.m. at the Ashley Pond Park Pavilion in Los Alamos.
The Pi and Pie event includes a silent auction to bid on pies from local restaurants and bakeries, and the sale of raffle tickets for the chance to pie local celebrities.
Youth Activity Center members will host free pi friendly activities throughout the afternoon and receive one free raffle ticket for the celebrity pie activity.
