Letter To The Editor: American Association Of University Women Supports Independent Ethics Commission
By CAROL NEAL and ALAHNA WELLERConstitutional Amendment #2 on the November ballot will provide New Mexico with an independent Ethics Commission. A change in Senate leadership in 2017 allowed the bill creating the commission to come up for vote. It passed both houses of the legislature and now comes before the citizens of New Mexico.

PEEC Awarded Clif Bar Grant For Passport Program
PEEC News:
The Pajarito Environmental Education Center, the non-profit organization that operates the Los Alamos Nature Center, recently received a grant from the Clif Bar Family Foundation to support the popular Passport to the Pajarito Plateau program.
The funding from Clif Bar will help PEEC continue to print and provide prizes for Passports I and II and go toward producing a third edition of the Passport, which PEEC hopes to debut at Earth Day Festival in 2019. Sustained funding to support all three Passport programs comes from the local Delle Foundation.

The Pajarito Astronomers will be holding their final County-Sponsored Dark Night of 2018 at starting at 6 p.m. (sunset), Saturday, Nov. 3 at Spirio Soccer Field, Overlook Park, weather permitting, the public is invited to come out, wander among the telescopes and star gaze.

Most days they’re County Councilors, scientists, school employees, County staffers or reporters, but Saturday they were firefighters for a day at the LAFD training facility on DP Road.
