Fort Union has announced this year’s Junior Ranger Camp at which participants will learn about the history of the fort, how the adobe ruins are preserved and the plants and animals that call Fort Union home.
Junior Ranger Camp Schedule:
- Thursday, June 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for 7-9 year olds; and
- Friday, June 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for 10-12 year olds.
Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. and the Junior Ranger swearing in ceremony is 3:30 p.m. Bring comfortable

The Los Alamos Garden Club has awarded its 2018 scholarship to Nicole R. Aldaz, a senior at Los Alamos High School.
Aldaz has not only earned excellent grades in her high school courses, but participated in many community service projects, such as the Torch Run for Special Olympics, making backpacks for needy students in northern New Mexico, collecting coats for elementary schools in New Mexico, preparing meal bags for the homeless and other projects.

Fleur De Lys Launches Macaron Fundraiser For Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers Through Saturday
The Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers Speech and Debate team is partnering with Fleur De Lys specialty grocery store at 1460 Trinity Dr., Unit 1 to raise funds for the team to travel to out-of-state tournaments including the national competition. The Los Alamos High School Athletic Department announces that Lanse Carter has been named Head Coach of the Girls Basketball Program.
Since 2003, Coach Carter has had stints at Capital, Pojoaque, Santa Fe Indian School and Santa Fe High School. During his tenure at Pojoaque High School, he won two state championships.
Prior to his head coaching positions he also served as an assistant coach at Adams State and Western State in Colorado.
