Los Alamos High School Chemistry Students May Qualify For U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad Team

The Central New Mexico chapter of the American Chemical Society has announced the names of two outstanding Los Alamos High School chemistry students: Donald Poston and Steven Zhao.

These students took a national exam April 21 that may qualify them to become members of the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad team to compete in the 50th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) July 19-29, 2019 in Bratislava Slovakia and Prague, Czech Republic.

The bird of the month for May is the Yellow-rumped warbler. These small birds are known for their yellow rump that can be seen as they fly away. There are two subspecies included in this designation, one is the Myrtle with a white throat and typically seen in the east. Quinten Brown Sworn Into U.S. Marine Corps

Los Alamos High School 2016 graduate Quinten Brown was sworn into service Monday for the U.S. Marine Corps during a ceremony in Albuquerque.

Brown will spend the next 13 weeks in boot camp at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego after which he will begin electrical maintenance school.

Present for the swearing-in ceremony were his mother, Jennifer Jung and her husband, Adam; father, GR Brown and his wife, Rosie Brown, sister Hannah Jameson and brother Preston Brown.
