LAHS Shows Solidarity To Florida High School
Students and staff, Los Alamos Public School administrators, community members and organizations such as the League of Women Voters participated in a school walkout this morning at Los Alamos High School. The walkout was to show solidarity to the shooting that left 17 people dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., and to voice support for ending violence in schools. Leah Wolfsberg, one of the organizers, said the walkout was a ‘really great opportunity to bring the school together and change the culture of the school so gun violence will never happen here’. The Los Alamos Hilltalkers and Hawktalkers Speech and Debate Teams earned top marks at the State Speech and Debate Tournament that was held at V Sue Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho.
Twenty seven schools competed from New Mexico, and although the competition was tough this year, both the high school and middle school Speech and Debate teams came out on top.

Daytime High School Equivalency Class At UNM-LA
UNM-LA News:
A new daytime High School Equivalency (HSE) class started Monday at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos campus.
Classes will run from 1 to 3 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays and will be held in Building 7, Room B11 through June 14. Claudia Ress will be teaching the class.
There is no cost to students for the class which is sponsored by state and federal funds.
Students may join the class at any time during the 14 weeks.
