Los Alamos Rotary Club Welcomes Youth Exchange Student Julian Baier Of Austria

Vincent Chiravelle, president-elect of the Rotary Club of Los Alamos, welcomes Rotary Youth Exchange student Julian Baier of Austria during Baier’s presentation Sept. 26 about his hometown, Neustift , a village of 70 people in lower Austria. Baier, 17, will be hosted by the Rotary Club in Los Alamos through the school year. He has two older sisters who also were Rotary Youth Exchange students; his cat, Jeanie, has an Instagram account with more than 6,500 followers. IRS Reminds Parents, Students To Explore Education Resources On IRS.gov

PHOENIX  The Internal Revenue Service reminds parents and students that there are many tax benefits available to them, and the easiest way to learn more about them is through the education resources available on IRS.gov.
 
Besides tax credits such as the American Opportunity Tax Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit, there are other education-related tax benefits that can help reduce a taxpayer’s tax liability. Savings plans, such as 529 plans, also offer tax-free ways to save for a student’s qualified education expenses.

UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) offers programs that train students to meet specific needs in our community, including the fields of emergency medicine and health care.

In 2013, UNM-LA developed an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. In 2016, the college began offering the Personal Care Attendant (PCA) program, and then in the Spring of 2017 the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program was added. Transfer programs in Pre-Professional Health are also available.

LAHS Senior Class Is Selling Eyeblacks, Cow Bells Today And Friday

LAHS News: 

The Los Alamos High School senior class wants you to get in the Homecoming Spirit. They are selling eyeblacks for $2 a pair and cow bells for $5 each during lunch and after school today and Friday.  They also will sell during the Homecoming game Friday night.

 “It’s a great way to show your school spirit and support the Class of 2018,” Class President Sophia Sivils said. The eyeblacks come as a pair and say Homecoming 2017. The cowbells are green with “Go Hilltoppers” printed on them.
