SANTA FE – The New Mexico State Auditor’s Office and Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) issued separate press releases this afternoon announcing that an investigation has discovered an estimated $200,000 of the college’s money is missing and is suspected stolen by a senior administrative employee.
State Auditor Tim Keller said of the findings, “These were hundreds of thousands of dollars that should have been serving students and faculty, not the personal benefit of an employee.”

The College reported the issue immediately to the New Mexico Office of the State Auditor and local authorities.

KIRTLAND AFB — Middle school students from around the state will be showing off their robotics skills at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Robotics Challenge Expo this week. Thirty student teams competed to earn a spot at the Expo taking place March 2 at Kirtland.
The students spent the last several months learning computer programming and robotics skills. SANTA FE – A bill to improve New Mexico’s lottery scholarship program was unanimously passed by the House Business and Industry Committee Monday. House Bill 250 is sponsored by Rep. Jason Harper (R-Sandoval) and Rep. Javier Martinez (D-Bernalillo), and it now heads to the House floor for a vote by the full House of Representatives.

Students work on a project at PAC 8. Courtesy PhotoPAC 8 is inviting teens to help create a public service announcement (PSA) on suicide prevention.
Students will plan, shoot, edit and create the sound track of the PSA.
PAC 8 received a grant from 100 Women Who Care to create suicide prevention PSAs. Ten students participated in the production of the first PSA made in December.
The PSA is playing at the Reel Deal Theater. Students who participate in the production will attend a wrap party at the Reel Deal Theater. They will get free movie passes, pizza and popcorn.
