Calling their presence inappropriate, Los Alamos High School Principal Debbie Belew-Nyquist ordered a teacher to escort School Board President Judy Bjarke-McKenzie and School Board Member Nan Holmes off campus property at 1300 Diamond Dr.
 
Bjarke-McKenzie explained that parents of members of the Junior Student Council planning the senior prom for this spring had contacted her and Holmes because those plans were not being accepted by the administration.

With just over 30 volunteer performers scheduled, the 5th Annual UNM-LA Music Marathon will take place 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, in the Student Center on the UNM-LA campus.

Historically, the UNM-LA Music Marathon has raised more than $4,600, featuring as many as 60 performers, and attracting 800 audience members. The event is co-chaired by UNM-LA adjunct music instructor Juanita Madland and Rheta Moazzami, with the intent of funding UNM-LA scholarships.

Alert: LANL, County, Schools On Two Hour Delay

News Alert:

Los Alamos National Laboratory is on a delayed schedule today due to Wednesday’s snow storm. Employees in the Los Alamos area and those carpooling are to arrive at 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and all other employees are to arrive at 10:45 a.m., to give snow removal crews time to clear roadways, parking lots and sidewalks.

Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) is a leader in what is now a nationwide trend that finds schools turning to solar energy to cut overhead costs to make more funds available for student education.

The college was among the first campuses in the nation to adopt a sustainability plan and now has approximately 1.7 megawatts of solar powering two campuses.
