Heinrich Leads Legislation To Combat Syphilis Epidemic
U.S. SENATE News:
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sens. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Roger Wicker (R- Miss.) introduced the Maternal and Infant Syphilis Prevention Act.
This is legislation to protect pregnant mothers and infants by requiring the Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary to issue guidance to states on best practices for screening and treatment of congenital syphilis under Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Indian Health Service (IHS).

New Mexico Public Education Department Releases 2023-2024 School Ratings … LAPS Earns Highest Designation

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) Tuesday released school ratings for the 2023-2024 school year, highlighting important gains for New Mexico’s schools.
Five additional schools in New Mexico are now rated as high performing, according to evaluation results, and 70% fewer schools were identified as in need of targeted, comprehensive or rigorous support.
