New Mexico State Agencies Assist In Winter Storm Response

SANTA FE – Since Wednesday, multiple state agencies have supported local emergency managers and public safety teams as New Mexico faced severe winter weather.

New Mexico State Police officers and the New Mexico Department of Transportation have responded to numerous calls and have assisted hundreds of stranded motorists.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation has deployed approximately 200 snowplows, loaders, and graders to clear roads statewide. Crews have been working around the clock in 12-hour shifts, continuing through the weekend.

Final Climate Action Plan Goes To Council For Consideration

After more than a year of extensive community engagement and research, Los Alamos County’s Sustainability Manager Angelica Gurule will present the final Climate Action Plan (CAP) to the County Council for adoption consideration. She will also ask Council to consider adopting an emission reduction target of carbon neutrality by 2050.

Governor Declares Emergency In Response To Winter Storm

STATE News:

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has issued two statewide emergency declarations this week that unlocks $1.5 million in state funding to support state agencies responding to the winter storm blanketing much of New Mexico.

“This declaration gives the state more resources to continue supporting local responders as this major snowstorm persists,” Gov. Local results in Tuesday’s 2024 General Election include two bonds for UNM-Los Alamos, which passed with strong support. The first bond had 8,144 votes for or 73% and 2,971 against or 27%. The second bond passed with 7,317 votes or 67% and 3,620 against or 33%.
