Governor Signs Emergency Declaration For Village Of Cuba Due To Water System Damage

STATE News: 

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham Friday announced that she has signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Sandoval County due to damage to the Village of Cuba’s water system infrastructure, making funding available to supplement the water supply to the affected community.

The Village of Cuba is faced with aging water infrastructure and is already in the design phase for a nearly $5 million project to upgrade and improve the village’s drinking water system.

County BPU To Hold Closed & Work Sessions Sept. 7

The Los Alamos County Board of Public Utilities (BPU) will hold a Closed Session 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 that is not open to the public.

BPU also will hold a Work Session 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, which is open to the public.

Economic Development Administrator Dan Ungerleider announced today the launch of Los Alamos County’s online Small Business Recovery Assistance Program, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

As of today, Los Alamos small business owners who suffered financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic can visit the County’s dedicated website, ARPA.losalamosnm.us to apply.

Los Alamos County is experiencing significant challenges hiring and retaining employees. During the regular council meeting Tuesday night, representatives from various County departments including fire, police and the Department of Public Utilities pleaded with council to address the situation, mainly by increasing salaries.
